Solutions to fill the GAP:
The problem for most people trying to live sustainably - is the money needed to start with!
I have put together a whole range of solutions which fit together, and provide a viable income generator with the means to provide net-profit-for-non-profits.
SOLution 1:
Q: How do people enter the internet at the moment if they want to find out anything about climate or sustainable problems/solutions?
A: Invariably, the answer is Google
Q: How much profit does Google make?

Q: Why am I using google as an example?
A: Because at the moment, if anyone is fortunate enough to be able to access the internet, there is NO non-profit (or rather, net-profit-for-non-profit re distributor) running a search engine!!
(NOR is there one single directory where everyone can access the wealth of knowledge which has been acquired by The Third Sector.)

According to www.globalissues.org 'Poverty Facts & Stats' it would take the following budgets to resolve these global issues:

According to this table, and the google example based on their income (in 2006!!) - WE could quite simply manage to resolve this budgetary requirement in a matter of stages – e.g. water & sanitation for all could easily be resolved in just over 1 year!!!!!!!

The Ark Directory – WILL list ALL non-profits for free, and will charge commercial operations listings fees AND commissions fees for their sales. WE will only list ecological & ethical companies & organisations, and WE will tell the consumer where the product came from, how far it travelled, who made it, how much they earned, what can be done with the product at the end of its life – AND how much energy it took to manufacture it.
PEOPLE WHO CARE – can find out ALL about the product – NOT JUST A GLOSSY COMMERCIAL ADVERT FOR THE PRODUCT OF THEIR DREAMS. (aka the traditional commercial world without a conscience will NOT be included in our listings – end of!!!)

SOLUTION 2:
Problem:
Anyone with an innovative solution or invention is currently facing thousands of pounds to get their design through the patency process – which takes YEARS to establish. Most 'normal' people find it too hard to get through the process, and give up in the early years.
Often, inventors who manage to finally get their designs patented, then have to market it themselves and also, often, get fleeced by the commercial manufacturer who takes their design/s for a minimal amount, and MAXIMISES their own profit. The manufacturer makes BILLIONS in profits, the inventor or designer just about covers their original costs, and gets a small bonus.
The product is manufactured in the West and exported across the world. Its wrapped in plastic, polystyrene or tin, and the rubbish is put in the bin – along with the product when the consumer has got bored with it, or it breaks a month after the warranty runs out. (Again, the consumer has not been told how many children were employed in its manufacture at a wage guaranteed to keep entire families desperate for the odd penny of wage - nor how much oil was used – or wasted – in that product's manufacture.)
The Ark Portal of Innovations (TAPOI) – Tapoi is also Maori for tourism, bringing innovation together with participatory eco-tourism, and in true Maori symbolism, respect for all visitors in equal to the visitor's respect for their hosts.

Starting with the Innovations side of Ark's concept on participatory eco-tourism:
1Anyone with an invention or innovative solution needs a window (portal) to show their design, and an agent to promote it for them.
E.G. A school team of pupils could come up with a wooden solar powered potato peeler.
B. It could be shown online on TAPOI for the CARING Ark members to provide the market research – who would like to buy one (= the manufacturing numbers are known)
C. It could be shown at 'Ark' sustainable community sites – with facilities for participatory Eco-Tourists & local visitors.
D.Dependent upon positive feedback, it will then:
DI.Be offered for auction to the commercial elements forming 'The Ark Directory' & the winning bidder securing their purchase via a deposit paid – paying for DII + DIII
DII.Research & development will be provided by the Open Source ED units listed in the Ark Directory
DIII.Marketing will be offered by the ethical marketing companies which care, & are listed in the Ark Directory if the manufacturer is in need of such
E. The manufacturer can buy a complete package, knowing their market (with orders already in place, R&D & marketing completed!) - the money from the transaction would be go to the school (or any other submitter), and a commission would be taken for Global Ark Projects, from which (again), net profits would add to the funds for re-distribution to benefit the global (Ark) community – e.g. the WHOLE third sector.
F. The product or service will again, be listed in the Ark directory, and commissions will (again) go to the cause of Global & Good!
G. Manufacture will be at the 'local & good' level wherever feasible, & distribution could quite simply be provided using the transport vessels which participatory eco-tourists use to visit the 'Ark' sustainable community living projects which are large enough to accommodate the full listing of this inclusive service – empowering those people who are currently excluded!
E.G. The Tree Ark Project – an exemplar site - a regenerative, sustainable community living project, providing:
Affordable naturally built (zero carbon) homes, to those willing to work on projects which offer land stewardship schemes (managing the biodiversity of their surroundings – guided by leading experts in the field, and ensuring that OUR companion species are kept at the levels needed by us ALL.)
1Organic waste matter provides the fuel for energy in biomass generators (+*)
2Water is harvested, (providing hydro-powered energy in the right location) (+*)
3Coastal situation could create 'algae farming' – cleaning CO2 from the ocean AND providing oil from the harvested algae (many advocates) = community revenue (+*)
4Either a community centre (cafe/restaurant serving locally grown organic food, internet cafe – education on site, gallery/shop – locally produced arts & crafts etc) or in combination with an ethical & environmental trading post – showrooms for such products as carbon-free kitchens – locally made (franchises), car showrooms – one of each of the most sustainable, ethical & carbon free designs – demonstration vehicles = car pool for the site community +/&/or of the eco-consultants networking together to provide these solutions on the site.
5Community buildings AND showrooms/trading post roofs to be covered with photovoltaic cells (or planted, with alternative site power generators)
6The surplus energy is then sold back to the mains grid – after supplying the local area with carbon free, renewable (low cost) energy
Participatory Eco-Tourism provides the revenue AND the workforce needed to create the generation on site (and helps to build the eco-homes for the community themselves – tied in with local colleges and advocates/teachers of natural building techniques)
The Tree Ark Project is a 'show & tell' community. Building will be filmed, as will daily entertainments, education, research and anything else going on on site! (Offer already in place, please see press release)

Helping to monitor the local biodiversity, and regenerate/cleanse & re-balance the environment. (EPI helps to provide peaceful solutions in areas of conflict & proven need.)

Living by example.
Business incubation units on site, allowing the wider local community access to the equipment they need to start up without having to find the funds they need to buy their own equipment before they know whether they will have a marketable product – saving bankruptcy figures associated with the failure of small businesses.
E.G. Pedal powered pottery wheels & wood turning equipment. Hand looms, manual spinning wheels. Art Studio, local minerals/metal works, recycled glass – all fired using charcoal made through coppicing. (Site dependent, many other products can be made using a variety of materials, such as Willow, reeds & waste materials.)
We end up with a range of tailor-made produce (+ products & innovations) to suit a discerning market of people who care.
(The permutations are endless, as each community will be formed of individuals with their own key skills, and therefore, there is no end to the options available. AN example of the potential permutations are shown on my spreadsheets/business plan.)
On site learning facilities will stem not just from the internet cafe and/or lecture room facilities – which will stream environmental & humanitarian problems & solutions, but via storytellers, guest speakers, musicians, artists, and visiting theatre companies. Earning on-site revenue through visitors.
(Again) – The net profits from the turnover will go back into Global Ark Projects for redistribution.
The Tree Ark Project community is formed of people of mixed ages, abilities & backgrounds, and (again) site dependent, will also offer affordable eco-homes to those of the local community with proven need of affordable housing – who share similar environmental & ethical concerns – who care.
A Participatory sustainable community living project such as this exemplar, could quite easily become the backbone (along with ALL other global regenerative & restoration projects) for a dedicated MAIN broadcasting station.
Problem:
Currently, unless someone has access to the internet or Sky, there would be little idea of the global problems (and solutions) which are on ALL our tables.
If 'A' National Television channel were dedicated to environmental & humanitarian news, innovations, solutions, projects AND advertising to the 'Third Sector' solutions which WE ALL know of, then THE GENERAL PUBLIC would suddenly become aware of the stark reality which faces EVERY SINGLE LIVING THING ON THIS PLANET.
Why isn't there ONE dedicated radio channel (with local stations) ??
Why isn't there one single NATIONAL NEWSPAPER, printed on recycled material, using vegan/organic & sustainable ink – which ALSO lists the latest round of Third Sector NEWS???
Why doesn't any commercial broadcasting operation “WAKE UP” to exactly what the problems are?? AND dedicate itself to BROADCASTING both the news of those problems AND solutions?
Advertising of global solutions, products, services & innovations – WHICH ALSO PROVIDED TRANSPARENCY – instead of just product – adverts which showed ethical & sustainable manufacture detailing – with net-profit re-distribution (again) being a key ingredient of their service.
ERGO – IN ALL THINGS, EDUCATING, SHOWING & EMPOWERING ALL THOSE WHO CARE.
